Tui Campervans is a well-established, family-owned New Zealand operator. They run a good range of self-contained campers at generally competitive prices. We'd call them a good-value, practical option rather than a premium experience — the fleet ranges from 2008 to 2023, so the vehicle you get can vary a lot in age and condition. If having a newer camper matters to you, check the specific vehicle details before you book.

Branches sit close to Auckland and Christchurch Airports. Pickup and drop-off from Queenstown, Dunedin, Wellington and Nelson Airports, Picton Ferry Terminal and Greymouth Train Station can be arranged too — just sort it out in advance, as there's a relocation fee involved. Arriving late? You can pre-arrange a $100 after-hours or contactless pickup so you're not stuck waiting.

On pickup day, Tui gives you a free transfer to and from the airport or nearby airport hotels and motels. A staff member walks you through the van in person and makes sure you know how everything works before you drive off — useful if you're new to campervanning.

Tui suits budget-conscious travellers who want a practical, self-contained camper and don't need the newest vehicle on the road. Couples, friends and families who care more about good inclusions and friendly service than a brand-new interior will get on well here.

First pick from the fleet: the Trail Adventurer 2+1. It's a solid all-rounder for a couple or small family — proper shower and toilet, decent off-grid capability, and compact enough to drive without stress.

One thing to plan around: if your trip crosses both islands, book your Interislander or Bluebridge ferry well ahead in summer, and confirm your Tui vehicle is cleared for ferry travel before you lock in your dates.
